Activities at Seaton Holiday Camp, swimming, tennis and rambling.
A Warners holiday camp opened in 1935 close to the station, encouraged by the ease of travel. Sometime afterwards (1960s?) a rival company opened another camp immediately next door known as Blue Waters Holiday Village - at some point it was owned by Ladbrokes. In the 1980s it was taken over by Warners and merged with their original camp and the whole site was renamed Lyme Bay.
At a later date the site was turned into a Haven camp. Both camps have now been demolished to make way for a new Tesco supermarket.

When World War II erupted in 1939, Warner’s Seaton camp was commandeered and used as an internment camp, where people deemed as ‘enemy aliens’ – a mixture of Germans, Italians, Japanese and others who were resident in Britain at the outbreak of the war, along with those considered to be politically dangerous – were imprisoned.
